SEPTEMBER 2009

NOVEMBER 2009
Nigel Bray
Consulting Engineer to the EA, has worked on reducing flood risk in Oxford since 2000. During that time he has become well known to many people in the area and gained their respect. He has worked, apparently tirelessly, in developing schemes small and large, has overcome the many obstacles to implementing them, and has kept us informed
at evening meetings in various village halls.
Nigel has not just done his job, he's done it well and beyond what might be expected.
Typically, earlier this year he put on his wellies, rolled up his sleeves, waded in and shifted concrete bags to help sort out a problem in Kennington. Thank you Nigel.
Mary Timbrell
has lived in Duke Street for 70 years. She is an active member of the local community and after the 2000 flood became an Environment Agency Flood Warden. Today she is still helping residents in Duke Street. Mary is a consistent attendee at community flood meetings, where her local knowledge and concern for fellow residents is evident. She is a great asset to the local community.

JULY 2009
Susanna Pressel
City and County Councillor, has been very supportive of the flood-

OFA Flood Stars 2009
Oxford Flood Alliance’s ‘Flood Stars’ are people who have done something extra in relation to flooding in the local community. The stars were thanked publicly at our November 2009 Public Meeting and Nigel and Susanna (Mary being unable to attend on the night) were presented with a bottle of OFA 2009 'Specially Bottled Star Reserve' as a token of recognition of their contributions.
